Trip Next weekend!

It's the weekend! YAY!

Amira and I are flying (by plane, not scary helicopter) to Big Island next weekend... it's a 40 min flight max. We are leaving Thursday and coming back Sunday... we have Friday off due to Easter Holiday, and we have a 1/2 day on Thursdays :)
(yes, I do get work done here.. I have actually learned a whole lot... I wish I could have brought some more of my textbooks).

We are going to fly into Kona and then rent a car to travel around the island and fly out of Hilo (opposite sides of the island). To save money, we are staying in a 'hostel' for $25 a night, and we have discount plane flight due to "inter-island competition". We are going to do a couple of hikes, probably a moonlight tour as well as a lava tour, visit the National Volcano Grounds and the black sand and white sand beaches... plus little stops along the way. We are both so excited, I can't wait to see an active volcano. All of the islands main roads/highways are around the circumference of the island because there are mountains in the middle... however, the only island that I know of with active volcano's is the Big Island. They have tour guides and specialists to make sure that tourists are safe and are not in harms way of the lava.

I love that I have the opportunity not only to learn more in the clinic, but I am also experiencing more from the travel and world perspective. What an amazing trip this is turning out to be!!!

Leslie is possibly coming to visit, and we will probably do the fun young adult things on O'ahu (i.e. boogie boarding, music, art, etc). Mom and Gary are coming to visit as well and I will probably do traditional tourist things with them (Pearl Harbor, Horseback riding, dining, etc).

I am so happy. Even though I miss everyone terribly, I think this was a great decision for me; good for my soul.
