Hello Again!
When I stay in Hawaii, I will not be taking my cell phone. From what I understand, my wireless coverage is only applicable in the Continental United States, not for Alaska or Hawaii. I will, however, have wireless internet capabilities, so I will be able to keep in touch via blog, email and possibly AOL instant messenger (for the young adult population). I am expecting to be very busy with work and of course spending time on the beach on the weekends, so I am not quite sure how much time I will be in the apartment and/or at my computer. The time difference is five hours until 5/11/07, but when I am in Hawaii it will be a 6 hour difference. From what I have read, Hawaii does not recognize daylight savings time.
I will be staying with a lovely couple (Eric & Kelly) whom have graciously allowed me to rent out their detached studio apartment. It includes a bedroom, bathroom, a place to cook (fridge, stove), it includes all utilities as well as wireless internet. There will also be a washer/dryer available. I am very excited to meet them; a previous student stayed with them on his clinical rotation and said they were both delightful. It is also in a very safe area, and Kailua is a very friendly town. They live in Kailua, HI; The place is 0.7 miles (2 minute drive) from the clinic, and a block and a half from the beach. I will be getting a bike when I get down there to travel to work, and if I cannot find one then I can simply walk. Good Exercise! :)
