Unfortunately, the clinic was closed on Friday due to a stomach flu (I hope Dr. McCarthy feels better soon!!!!). Jami, Amira and I went to Lanikai Juice for a "ah-sigh-e" bowl. It's actually spelled Acai (with a little divet underneath the c). It is basically a smoothie in a bowl, with granola and fruits on top. It was actually, very yummy. Amira and I then went with her friend Peter to Waimanalo Bay, but it was cool and rainy. Peter did some cool "boogie boarding tricks, but it was a bit chilly for swimsuit weather. Afterwards, we went for dinner at a Vietnamese place, but uh... it was okay... spicy.
Saturday was very fun. We woke up early and went to "swap meet"... which is basically the Hawai'ian version of the flea market. There is so much stuff there, and it's held at the "Aloha Stadium" on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays It has a good mixture of typical tourist things as well as some authentic Hawai'ian items all mixed all in one melting pot of different smells, sounds and people. I got some pretty nifty items, but you'll have to wait until I get back to see them ;)
Afterwards, we went to "west point"... the western most point of O'ahu. It was a pretty decent little hike, and I took some great pictures. The town we drove through to get to the hike was very poverty stricken; there are a lot of locals living on the beach. A few years ago, it was recommended to not even drive through the area, but the government and military personnel in the area have really helped clean it up by providing community centers and church-organized meals. The pictures from the hike are beautiful.
Miss everyone!
